The Honorable Sarah J. Carrillo

Judge 

On June 2, 2026, Sarah J. Carrillo was appointed by Governor Newsom to the Superior Court of Tuolumne County.  She was sworn in on July 17, 2026. 

Judge Carrillo graduated from CSU, Chico with honors. She received her Juris Doctorate law degree from the University of California Davis, King Hall School of Law.  After graduating from law school, Judge Carrillo worked at small law firms practicing family law and general civil law.  In April of 2005, she joined the Tuolumne County Counsel’s Office as a Deputy County Counsel.  In 2012, she was appointed the Acting County Counsel and in 2013 she was appointed as County Counsel for Tuolumne County.  She served in that position until September of 2025, when she left to join the law firm of WhiteBrenner, LLP, where she worked until January of 2026.  From January 2026 to July of 2026, Judge Carrillo served as the Assistant General Counsel for the California State Association of Counties. 

Judge Carrillo is a native of Tuolumne County, and graduated from Curtis Creek Elementary and Sonora High School.
